We have recently added GlideHair coin operated hair straighteners as a product page on Facebook. Not only is this another area for us to spread the GlideHair news but it also allows people to get involved as fans, post comments and suggest new venues for GlideHair vending machines.

GlideHair is delighted to announce that Bully’s Nightclub in Townsville, QLD has become the 100th venue in Australia to have it’s unique vending machine installed.

We are still looking for new licensees and sales agents to get involved, and hopefully before too long we will be announcing our 500th venue!

GlideHair is currently seeking independent Sales Agents throughout Australia.  We’re looking to appoint professional, experienced sales individuals to promote the GlideHair system and to sign up venues for a free loan of the units.

The GlideHair coin operated hair stylers are a ‘must have’ addition to bars, nightclubs, gyms, shopping centres, hotels, restaurants and hostels.  The units are installed and operated in venues by one of our licensed operators on a free loan basis and the venue receives a percentage of the takings.

These are self-employed positions and you can put as much time and effort in as you please.  A generous commission is paid for each venue  you sign up.

Club4Play in Geelong has recently added coin operated hair straighteners to it’s all new ladies powder room. The nightclub is a busy spot in Geelong at the weekends. Another popular venue to install the GlideHair unit is the Chinese Laundry in Sydney. The Chinese Laundry is a cool nightspot located under the popular Slip Inn. Other new venues in Sydney include the Vibe Hotel and The Four in Hand.

I’m sure the girls of Geelong and Sydney will enjoy using their new stylers.

The GlideHair unit has been designed specifically for public use and has self-sanitising plates. Our stylers are designed with 100% ceramic plates which is better than the normal ceramic coated plates of even the most popular leading retail brands. This means they don’t scratch or chip easily, glide through your hair, have no product build-up and at 210 degrees are completely sterile.

The Universal Bar in Northbridge, WA is the latest venue to introduce coin operated hair straighteners and along with Zapatas restaurant in Fremantle becomes one of the first venues to have coin operated hair straighteners in Western Australia.

With the launch of it’s new Terrace Bar in March, we’re delighted that the acclaimed Northbridge venue has added GlideHair coin operated hair straighteners.

The Precinct Hotel in Richmond, VIC is another new venue that recently opened and added the GlideHair units into it’s ladies rooms.

Some of our latest venues to have coin operated hair straighteners installed are The Bedroom nightclub in Surfers Paradise, Zacharys on the Sunshine Coast and the Kawana Shopping Centre.

We are also now spreading west with venues in Fremantle and Perth signing up. We expect to sign up several more licensee’s throughout Australia in the coming weeks and look forward to welcoming them on board.

Since the new year we’ve been very busy marketing the concept in the UK and we’ve appointed a marketing manager, Maureen, to assist in dealing with all our UK enquiries. We expect to announce our first licensee’s over the next few weeks and we have many venues noting their interest.

The idea of coin-operated hair stylers is not new.

Back in the 1920’s a man called Wally Kalumenos came up with the idea of coin-operated electric hair stylers. That was a pretty novel idea back in those days – so much so that Wally applied for a patent for his idea, and this was duly granted on 7^th July 1926 – more than 80 years ago.

We guess Wally’s idea was just a little bit ahead of it’s time, because we can’t find any evidence that Wally died a rich man!

In fact it wasn’t until more than 50 years after Wally’s patent had expired that ceramic hair straighteners become a ‘must-have’ for girls.

Whilst it’s a bit late for Wally to benefit from this fashion, we at GlideHair think that at least we should recognise that the original idea was Wally’s, and not try to lay claim to the original idea ourselves.

To claim to have invented coin-operated hair stylers and, worse still, to try to apply for a patent* on the idea will have poor old Wally turning in his grave!

* the patent authorities have indicated that such a patent application will be disallowed due to prior art (Wally’s patent).

As you’d probably agree, hair straighteners have revolutionised the way female’s style their hair, so much so that a survey voted the hair straightener as the top invention for women ever! See the news article here.

GlideHair is continuing to roll out it’s fantastic new coin operated stylers throughout Australia. Venues can receive units in a number of ways. In fact more and more locations are taking up the product either through free loan from our licensee’s or renting the product direct from GlideHair.

There are two options to rent a unit, either on a monthly basis or annual in advance. Either way the venue retains all the revenues.
